Thieves who stole floral tributes from a grave in Scholemoor Cemetery, Bradford, have struck again just five weeks later.
Widower Brian Fairclough (right at his wife’s grave), of Hazelcroft, Eccleshill, said he was sickened when he visited his wife’s grave at Scholemoor Cemetery yesterday only to find the planters he had filled with colourful primulas and hyacinths had been stolen.
Mr Fairclough, 77, who lost his wife, Kathleen, to cancer in 2009, said this was the fourth time in three years that the grave had been targeted.
“It’s disgusting that people do this. My wife worked in London and in Bradford as an auxiliary nurse. She worked at a nursery and as a home help. It’s despicable that these low-lives are doing such a thing to someone who has spent all their life helping others.”
John Scholefield, Bradford Council’s bereavement and amenities manager, had previously said: “Incidents like this are very distressing to relatives and should not happen, but we are doing as much as possible to protect our cemeteries,”
