The head teacher of a failing school has welcomed the replacement of its governing body with a new board in a bid to drive up standards.
Bradford Council is removing the governing body of Bradford Moor Community Primary, in light of a damning Ofsted report.
In their report, inspectors condemned governors for a longstanding failure to ensure the school was being properly run.
The Council is now in the process of removing the governing body and setting up a temporary board to act as governors while a longer-term solution is found. The interim executive board will be tasked with bringing about rapid improvement at the school and board members are currently being hand-picked.
Head teacher Janet Relton said: “We are working closely with the local authority to make rapid improvements for pupils within school.
“We agree with the local authority and the governing body that at this time an interim executive board would be a supportive move.”
