An MP is on a mission to ensure schools in Bradford benefit from the legacy of the London Olympics.
David Ward, MP for Bradford East, and members of the Education Select Committee visited two primary schools and a specialist sports college in the capital yesterday to speak to teachers, sports coaches and students.
The aim is to get an idea of the impact that hosting last year’s Games has had on school sports and what further needs to be done to secure the legacy for sport in schools.
The committee will also be looking into the impact and effectiveness of current Government policy and expenditure on increasing sports in schools.
It was recently announced that the government was giving a £1,418,725 boost for school sports in Bradford’s primary schools from September.
