A former student of South Craven school in Cross Hills, near Keighley, has received his commission to become an Army officer.
Matthew Abbott, from Silsden, recently completed a one-year training course at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst.
He was this month made a 2nd Lieutenant during the Sovereign’s Parade and Commissioning.
Matthew will next month begin a further four months' training at the Deep Cut Barracks, then take up a command post at Rutland.
