Opticians in Bradford are supporting the annual African and Caribbean Community Empowerment Day by offering free sight and hearing tests.
Today the team from Specsavers in Darley Street, Bradford, is offering free sight and hearing examinations to all visitors. Their aim is to raise awareness about the importance of regular examinations which can prevent or treat underlying health conditions.
The African and Caribbean Communities have some of the highest figures of diabetes in the country and Specsavers want to go to the event to show residents how vital a sight or a hearing test can be.
Pete Rookes, store director, said: “We are delighted to support the local community at African and Caribbean Empowerment Day.”
An event marking the Empowerment Day will take place at City Hall from noon to 5pm.
