International burlesque star Catherine D’Lish is performing in Bradford, during a rare visit to the UK.
Famed for her exquisite costumes – she designs and makes pieces for other world-class burlesque performers, including Dita Von Teese – Catherine (pictured) is known for her classic Hollywood starlet look and the timeless glamour of her routines.
The American star will perform her giant champagne glass routine at the New Bradford Playhouse on Friday, May 17.
The show, Champagne and Showgirls, is organised by Heidi Bang Tidy, resident burlesque performer at the Little Germany theatre, and producer Lady Wildflower. Both dancers will appear in the show, joining Havana Hurricane, Snappy O’Shea and Ginger La Rouge and ‘British burlesque queen’ Anna Fur Laxis. The evening will be hosted by ‘antipodean songbird’ Kiki DeVille.
Jono Gadsby, director of New Bradford Playhouse, said: “We are using this event as a celebration for how far we have come since taking on guardianship of the Playhouse in October. Heidi Bang Tidy’s regular burlesque shows are some of the most popular in our programme and we’re delighted to be staging what is probably the biggest burlesque event Yorkshire has ever seen, right here in Bradford. The dress code is ‘black tie Hollywood Glamour’. It’s going to be a night to remember.”
Heidi added: “The Playhouse has been so supportive and this is our way of celebrating the fact that our work with them has put Bradford firmly on the burlesque map.”
