Steeton Cricket Club will this weekend rename its pavilion after its longest-serving member who died.
The club decided last year to name the building in honour of lifelong Steeton resident Thomas Barritt, 88.
Mr Barritt, who had been a member since he was a teenager, died on April 13 at the Gables Nursing Home in Silsden.
He had been treasurer, chairman and, since 1998, the president.
Mr Barritt spent his working life at Belmont Silks, Silsden, where he became mill manager. Steeton Cricket Club chairman John Akrigg said: “He was a true gentleman.”
Mr Barritt never married. His niece Rosemary will attend a ceremony this Sunday along with Keighley MP Kris Hopkins to officially open the pavilion.
