The politician responsible for Children’s Services at Bradford Council has confirmed that the district will receive a visit this week to see how the education success can be replicated elsewhere. Professor of Education at Birmingham City University, Richard Hatcher, will look at the Council’s progress, on behalf of Birmingham City, according to Councillor Ralph Berry. The Councillor also said there needed to be more local powers to intervene with struggling schools locally, even if they were not under the remit of the local authority. He said: “We have also seen some challenging issues being faced and the readiness to take difficult decisions and use intervention powers and influence is a key issue. It’s time in my view for those powers to be more localised so we can move quickly to intervene and support in all categories of school.”
