Warm tributes have been made to a former town Mayor who died peacefully at home this week, aged 84.
Former schoolteacher Audrey Thornton was a Conservative member of Skipton Town Council for 20 years from 1991 to 2011.
For 16 years she was vice chairman of the planning committee with her great friend, Betty Campbell, as chairman.
She became chairman for a year following Mrs Campbell’s retirement in 2010 and until she herself stepped down from the council in 2011.
Mrs Thornton was deputy mayor to Mrs Campbell in 1992 to 1993 and Mayor of Skipton herself the following year.
