A cancer scientist and a group of friends will collect cash for a Yorkshire cancer charity by cycling to Paris and back over seven days.
Dr Mark Sutherland, of Bradford’s University’s Institute of Cancer Therapeutics, is part of a group of 13 who plan to cycle 700 miles to coincide with the Tour de France in July.
The team, members of the university’s Cycle Club and their own off-shoot, the Not Right Group, will cycle from Bradford to Hull where they will catch a ferry to Rotterdam.
They will then cycle to Gent, Bradford’s twin city Roubaix, St Quentin and then Paris before returning to Bradford. Money raised will go to Yorkshire Cancer Research. Dr Sutherland, of Shipley,, said: “We hope people will support us.”
They will also hold an event with spiritualists Angela Wilson and Sandra Lee, called The Unforeseen Event, at The Midland Hotel from 7pm on Sunday, July 7. Tickets cost £10. To sponsor, visit uk.virginmoney giving.com/team/ParisChall enge.
