Random acts of chivalry and an abseil down the Cow and Calf Rocks by men in tuxedos marked St George’s Day in Ilkley today.
Passers-by in the town centre were given flowers by a group smartly-dressed models, and other acts of chivalry included offering to pay for a shopper’s groceries in a supermarket.
The activities, held to coincide England’s patron saint’s day, marked the launch of a new clothing brand by Ilkley businessman Austen Pickles.
Mr Pickles, who runs £10 million tailoring company Buxton Pickles from its headquarters in Ilkley, launched the Johnny Tuxedo brand, aimed at teenagers and young men. He believes the James Bond-style fashion will start a “black-tie revolution”.
