A 48-year-old man behind bars awaiting sentence for sexually abusing two girls has had his case adjourned because he wants new legal representation.

David Cameron, of Bracken Bank Way, Keighley, was convicted by a jury at Bradford Crown Court last month of sexual activity with the girls, then aged 13 and 15. He was remanded in custody by Judge Robert Bartfield and told to expect a substantial jail sentence.

Yesterday, Cameron handed a letter to the judge saying he had lost confidence in his legal team and did not want his previous barrister to speak for him at the sentencing hearing.

The case was adjourned so he can find another firm of solicitors.

Giles Bridge, for the Crown, asked that the case be heard as soon as possible because Cameron’s young victims wanted to know the outcome.

Judge Bartfield ordered that it be listed for mention on May 7.
