Shipley town centre has been chosen as the first place in the Bradford district to become a new transport ‘hub’.
The hub will be developed across the town centre, the railway station and Market Square, and will see better links being formed between the bus and rail networks.
Signs between the railway station and Market Square will be upgraded and extra CCTV would be put in at Market Square.
Street lighting at Charles Street and Back Street, next to platform one at the railway station, will be improved.
A bus shelter, showing real-time service updates, will be installed in Leeds Road opposite the station entrance. And totem-style signs will be be put up advertising the different public transport options available. The hubs are being introduced as part of the West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan. In the first raft, one hub is being developed in each district of West Yorkshire.
The Shipley hub is expected to be installed by the end of next year.
