What better way to celebrate an important birthday than by cooking up some tasty treats – and who better to help make them than a Great British Bake Off champion.
Pupils at Lady Lane Park School in Bingley are celebrating the school’s 25th birthday with a year of events and activities.
Ed Kimber, who won the TV show in 2010, travelled from London to help children and parents bake gingerbread men and judge a decorating competition.
Paul Kempsey also took in daughter Olivia’s Olympic Torch for children to pose with. He said: “It’s been absolutely wonderful. My children are in their 20s and you forget just how interested and excited children get.”
The visit was organised by reception teacher Vicky Waters through work contacts her father has.
She said: “Ed seems really relaxed. He’s a real people person.”
Chef Raymond Blanc also recorded a video message which was played during assembly.
