Hadouken! – Every Weekend (Surface Noise Recordings) *****
Not since The Prodigy has a band brought together fans from as far apart as metal to dance via hip-hop and indie. This is a unique sound that is an absolute must for the highest volume setting your stereo (or your neighbours) can handle. These guys know how to make a sound that just has to get your feet leaping about. The drops are mostly predictable, but exciting as they slowly build up to the crescendo that you know is going to come.

David Garrett – Music (Decca) *****
David Garrett is a former child prodigy of the classical world who signed to Deutsche Grammaphon when he was only 13, he has since worked with leading orchestras around the world. His new album Music brilliantly combines many different genres and eras of music, Coldplay, Chopin, Bond and Beethoven all combine happily together in this exciting, energetic album. Technically superb within the violinists ever expanding repertoire. The rendition of Queen’s bombastic anthem We Will Rock You is a showcase for some daredevil classical flourishes that will leave you wondering where David Garrett will go next.

Charlie Landsborough – Silhouette (Edsel Records) *
Described as a British country, singer-songwriter, Charlie Landsborough is no Hank Williams, probably preferring to align himself with country lightweight George Hamilton who he has contributed songs for. He first made his name in his fifties with What Colour Is The Wind reaching the number one slot in Ireland. This catapulted his career in ‘easy listening’ circles bracketing him with the like of Daniel O’Donnell, Foster & Allen and Pat Boone. This offering of mainly self-penned ditties shows that at 72 he can still simulate country, but it is significant that the stand out tracks Cold Cold Heart, City of New Orleans and Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain are all penned by others.
