A meeting was held of the Camera Club in St. James church hall on Wednesday, April 10. The competition was Man made structures in black and white. There was a very good turnout of photographs, and they were of excellent quality. The results were: 1 Ainsley Clough. 2 Neil Bland. 3 Graham Pickering. 4 Ann Bland. 5. Brian Whittingham. 6. Paul Robinson.

A charity concert in aid of the Gambian Schools trust will be held on Saturday at Silsden Methodist Church. Tickets cost £5 and can be obtained by contacting Linda Gunn on (01535) 655685. The concert starts at 7.30pm and features Ermysted’s Big Band and Eliza Dewhirst.
The Friends of Airedale hospital car boot sales are running twice a month throughout the summer. Double the opportunity to buy and sell and help a good cause. Held in the West Car park they will be held on the first and third Sundays of every month from April to September.
West Yorkshire fire service are recruiting ‘on call’ firefighters at Silsden fire station. There is an awareness day at Silsden fire station on Saturday, 10am to noon, when anyone interested is welcome to come along. The Methodist Church has a coffee morning each day from Tuesday to Friday, Chatterbox at the Methodist Church – 9am to 11am – Tuesday to Thursday – meet, eat, drink and chat and then the original Friday Coffee morning now over 30 years old between 9.30am and 11.30am. All welcome.
The 1st Silsden is a thriving group based at St James church in Silsden and meets Friday evenings. The Group currently consists of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, each holding meetings alongside activity days and camps. Call in for further details.
St Stephen’s Ladies’ Fellowship enjoyed a demonstration of spring flowers at its April meeting. Ann Lindsay kindly stood in for Janet Smithies and produced four lovely designs, which were later raffled.
St Stephen’s Church Hall was packed on Friday for an evening with Ian Dewhirst. There was supper and the evening raised £660 for hall funds Steeton Methodist Church Youth Club will meet at 6.15pm on Tuesday when the theme will be St George’s Day Shields.
The Methodist Church’s Wednesday Evening Fellowship will meet on Wednesday, April 24, at 7.30pm when Mora Whitham will talk about South Africa in the Apartheid Years.
Morning worship at the Methodist Church on Sunday at 10.30am will be led by Terry O’Shaughnessy. There is a junior church at the same time.
