Yorkshire finalists including the University of Bradford have only weeks left before they find out how they have done in the Greenbuild Awards 2013.
The university has been nominated for its Green Library Education and Environment project.
The Greenbuild Awards 2013 recognises excellence in sustainable buildings, with a particular focus on projects that can illustrate an understanding of the importance of building performance in use.
After weeks of deliberation judges have chosen the finalists and the winners will be announced at a celebratory dinner on May 8 at Manchester’s Grade II listed Midland Hotel during the Greenbuild Expo 2013.
Yorkshire has two finalists. They are the GLEE, the Green Library Education and Environment, at Bradford University. and Church View, in Sherburn, North Yorkshire, by Henry Boot Construction.
The GLEE project was about moving the energy rating for the university library from D to A, which would make it best practice in terms of energy efficiency and bringing a 1970s building up-to-date.
Increased insulation and new windows have helped reduce heat loss.
