A speeding driver who hit a house wall after flipping his wife’s car on to its roof was jailed for eight months.
Sameer Khan ran a red light and almost smashed into three other drivers while leading police on a five-mile chase round Bradford.
Khan, 26, of Mount Street, Eccleshill, Bradford, admitted dangerous driving and driving without insurance or a licence.
Prosecutor John Bull told Bradford Crown Court yesterday that police saw Khan speeding along Harrogate Road on Decem-ber 12 in a Ford Focus.
He accelerated off, sparking a pursuit lasting up to eight minutes in which he reached double the speed limit and threw a package of drugs from the vehicle.
At about 9.30pm, Khan lost control of the car on Norman Avenue. It flipped on to its roof, hit a lamppost and came to rest against a house wall. Khan tested positive for opiates.
He told police the package he hurled out of the car on Pollard Lane contained cannabis and was a friend’s. Mr Bull said it was never found.
Khan’s barrister Stephen Couch said his client panicked. He was a family man with a child and very remorseful. Judge John Potter banned Khan from driving for two years.
