An appeal has been launched against Bradford Council’s decision to refuse the conversion of a Haworth workshop into house.

Gillian Penny lodged the appeal after her plans for 23 Lime Street were turned down in January.

She had argued the conversion would make the property more attractive, provide low cost housing, and that a workshop and storage building were not needed in that area.

But council officers said access to the site, through a narrow, unadopted road, was poor, and a residential property there could cause highway safety issues.

Mrs Penny argues that the building was originally a dwelling when first constructed in 1876, and the conversion will actually lead to a reduction in traffic, as commercial vehicles will no longer need to access the site.
