Progress has been made to try to keep Haworth’s retained fire station.
But the village’s parish council chairman, Councillor John Huxley, said he could not reveal detailed information at this stage.
He said any plan would need to be discussed with the 12 retained firefighters based at the station.
“I do believe we’re in touching distance of having a workable scheme,” he said.
The facility was earmarked for closure in 2012 as part of a cost-cutting programme, but a campaign to save it won a two-year deferral.
Since then talks have been under way to try and find a community-based solution to keep the station open.
Coun Huxley said: “We’ve had some really interesting conversations with fire service officers about a possible way forward, and I’m confident that we’ve found a way through this.”
