Slim Panatella & The Mellow Virginians (pictured) are a world-class collective on mandolin, violin and double bass, whose repertoire includes bluegrass, jazz, swing, ragtime, country blues and Irving Berlin.
The group is comprised of Simon Mayor, fiddler, guitarist, composer, producer and one of the world’s leading mandolin players, whose live performances are a riot of lively anecdotes and off-the-cuff wit;
Richard Collins, three time UK banjo champion and flat-pick guitar wizard; and Hilary James, described as one of the great English folk voices, who also plays the double bass, mandobass and is a “mean guitar picker”.
Slim Panatella & The Mellow Virginians will be at Ilkley Playhouse on Saturday, April 27. For tickets ring (01943) 609539.
