Three Bradford cycling organisations will benefit from a slice of £20,000 from the first round of funding from West Yorkshire Metro’s go:cycling project Bradford’s Bierley Cycling Club, Cycle Queensbury and Ilkley Cycle Club, as well as Leeds’ Pedallers’ Arms Open Workshop, will receive a share of £19,894 to buy pool bikes and equipment, provide training, offer cycle maintenance advice and organise events designed to encourage people to get on their bikes.
Bierley Cycling Club will use the cash to run six events at The Life Centre over the summer, while Cycle Queensbury will hold an event along the Greath Northern Railway trial in May. Ilkley Cycle Club will buy four adult pool bikes and offer free bike health checks. Metro chairman Councillor James Lewis said: “Funding is designed to enable organisations to encourage adult cycling.”
