A school has raised £1,500 for a burns unit by holding a Bradford City-themed sponsored spelling contest.
St Matthew’s Primary School in West Bowling raised the cash for the Bradford Burns Unit.
The unit, based at the University of Bradford, was set up in the aftermath of the Valley Parade fire disaster, which killed 56 people and injured more than 250 in 1985.
Yesterday, Bradford City’s director of operations David Baldwin and Debabrata Mondal, from the burns unit, visited the school to say thank you to the children at a special assembly.
Head teacher Robert Curran said: “We are so proud of the children's efforts.”
