Villagers got together with contractors to lift the first turf for Addingham’s new games area before work got fully underway. Representatives of Addingham Civic Society, Addingham Parish Council, the village youth club, Addingham Primary School and Bradford District Council all dug in with main contractors Dobson Construction to celebrate the start of work on the games area. Mike Bolton, one of the Civic Society Trustees who is helping to co-ordinate the project, said: “We are really excited that the project is now underway and we can start to see the results of all our hard work.
“We were delighted to get a very generous donation from a local resident which takes us more than a quarter of the way to meet the total we need for the lighting.
“Although we still need to find the remaining £7,500, this has put us well on the way.”
