A transformed woodland area – once derelict, overgrown and plagued by fly-tippers – is to be celebrated at an open day.
The Wilderness, which runs between Otley Road and Sunmoor Drive in Skipton, has been turned into a wildlife and woodland idyll over the past 12 years.
The Friends of the Wilderness want people to visit the site on Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
It coincides with the publication of a book by Skipton man Steve Warren, which traces the geological and social history of the location.
The book is also dedicated to the late Gwynne Walters, who led Skipton Civic Society in the purchase and restoration of the Wilderness. The site is now the responsibility of Skipton Town Council.
Mr Warren said: “The geological, ecological and artificial features combine to make a fascinating illustration of landscape development in miniature.
The Wilderness is next to the Cross Keys pub and has an ancient packhorse bridge and shell grotto.
