Young people across Bradford are being helped onto the work ladder after a generous donation to Barnardo’s.
Employees at KPMG, Eversheds and RBS have cleared out their wardrobes and donated their old suits to the charity in a bid to help young people making their first step into the world of work.
Barnardo’s Yorkshire has taken delivery of 175 men’s and women’s suits along with blouses and shirts after making an appeal to the Yorkshire branches of the companies.
The smart work wear will be worn by young people who are supported by the charity to get into work, many for their first job interview.
Barnardo’s Volunteer Coordinator, Ash Swindells, said: “We couldn’t believe it when we received so many high quality suits and work wear.
“For many of the young people I’m working with, an interview is their first experience of the world of work and most of them have nothing suitable to wear.
“A suit is a big expense, so this is the perfect way to help young people get them suited and booted for that all important interview.
"We all know that if you feel and look the part, it helps with confidence, so we’re very grateful to those who have made such generous donations.”
Barnardo’s wants to recruit mentors to work with the young people they are supporting in to work through its Employment, Training and Skills programme.
