Scouting in South Craven is booming.
The number of youngsters joining the movement is continuing to rise.
In Kildwick and Farnhill alone, there are now 65 members – up by more than half from three years ago.
Scout district commissioner Phil Probst said: “We now have more than 250 people regularly attending groups across South Craven, making new friends, learning and enjoying new skills and activities.” He added what was particularly pleasing was a steady increase in Beaver colonies, which cater for the youngest members of the movement, aged six to eight. But the increase in numbers means there is a greater need for adult leaders. Mr Probst said: “We’re very keen to maintain the momentum but can’t grow the groups without the adult leaders to run the meetings and help organise activities.”
