The Brighouse and Rastrick Band has made history by creating its first youth band since 1881.
Newly-appointed youth band musical director Dean Redfern said: “We believe it’s a very positive move to help secure the long-term future of Brighouse and Rastrick Band and to further provide additional musical opportunities for young players in the area.”
The band welcomes anyone aged 18 or under who can play to an acceptable level to attend an open day in the band room on Finkill Street, in Brighouse on April 27 between 10.30am and 3pm.
The group aim to have the band running by May this year.
Auditions will be held on the day or on Saturday, May 4, at the band room in Finkil Street, Brighouse, between 10am and 2pm. Contact Mr Redfern at dean.redfern@ jwlees.co.uk or call 07711 227625.
