A memorial service will be held for former wool textile industry leader and Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire Sir William Bulmer.
Cullingworth-born Sir William, a former managing director of Bulmer & Lumb Ltd, at Buttershaw, successively chaired two Bradford-based trade bodies, the National Wool Textile Export Corporation and the Wool Textile Delegation.
The memorial service will be held at St Michael’s Church, Kirkby Malham, next month.
Sir William lived in Hanlith, near Kirkby Malham, for a number of years before moving to the Channel Islands. He died in Jersey, aged 92.
He was a founder of the British Textile Confedera-tion and was knighted in 1974 for services to wool textiles.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 2pm.
