A man hired to clear out the interior of a social club in Keighley wants people to claim some of its history before it disappears.
Pub landlord Michael Thompson would like to hear from people interested in remnants of the Pop ‘n’ Pasty Club’s past.
The club – which was in two former terraced houses in Bradford Road, opposite Victoria Park – closed in spring 2012 due to a lack of custom. It was opened in 1908 as the North East Ward Liberal Club.
Despite being disused for nearly a year, much of the premises remains full of club paraphernalia, including bar stools, pint glasses, snooker cues, a full-size snooker table, and a framed Second World War roll of honour.
Mr Thompson, 43, who has been employed by the property’s owner to deal with the material, said: “There’s a lot of stuff here I don’t want to have to take to the tip.
“I’m sure there must be people who used to come here who’d be interested in some of this memorabilia.
“It’s sad to see it the way it is now.
“It would have been a busy, lively community hub at one time.”
People can get in touch with Mr Thompson on 07933 699234.
