There are two days left to see an exhibition of early David Hockney work at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery.
David Hockney: The Early Years features items that have rarely been seen in public including the large oil painting.
The show also includes oils in his distinctive early style that have never been shown together before, plus etchings from two of his four major series of prints: A Rake's Progress and Six Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm.
Mr Hockney was born in Bradford in 1937 and won a scholarship to Bradford Grammar School. He studied at Bradford School of Art before completing a postgraduate qualification at the Royal College of Art in London. From the 1960s he spent most of his time in Los Angeles but has in the last decade spent more time in Bridlington. This inspired the piece Bigger Trees Near Warter, which was at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery in 2011.
The current exhibition, at the gallery in Lister Park, runs until tomorrow.
