A man with a mission to meet as many mayors as possible was at Bradford City Hall yesterday to tick another off his list in his bid for a world record Mark Dabbs, 39, Walsall’s running ambassador, greeted the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Dale Smith, to take his tally to more than 120.
Mr Dabbs, who presented gifts from Walsall to Coun Smith, has already met a number of mayors in Yorkshire including those of York, Leeds, Wakefield and Sheffield.
He is now moving on to Durham, Newcastle and then Edinburgh He is aiming to meet 150 more mayors before he ends his challenge. Mr Dabbs said: “I believe there is no record holder for this yet but I would like to be the person establish it as one.”
Coun Smith received a book on Walsall, which is famous for its leather industry, from Mr Dabbs and gave him a Brilliant Bradford booklet in return.
He said: “It was a joy to meet him and hear about his travels across the country promoting Walsall. He enjoyed passing through the city and has taken away happy memories of what he described as an amazing city.”
