Film star scarecrows, giant sunflowers and a Dickens of a theatre performance will be among the highlights of Burley-in-Wharfedale’s summer festival which gets underway on Friday, August 16.
Residents will be testing their gardening skills as they attempt to grow the tallest sunflower, while imaginations will run riot as they look to produce the best scarecrow based on a cinema theme.
The week-long festival gets underway with a Friday Ceilidh before the opening weekend pulls in the crowds with a series of popular events.
Pet owners can take part in the Burley Dog Show while thousands of visitors are expected to cast their eyes over classic vehicles at Burley Cricket Club on Sunday, August 18.
The full events programme is still being worked on.
