The mighty Dhol Foundation are coming to Bradford, with special guests Dalvinder Singh and KS Bhambra.
The concert, at St George’s Hall next Friday is headed by Johnny Kalsi, the UK’s most celebrated player of the Punjabi dhol drum.
The Dhol Foundation played before its biggest ever crowd at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony last summer, building a powerful percussive undercurrent to the soundtrack of Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.
The band’s legendary wall of sound, global rhythms and thumping contemporary beats combine with the effervescent Johnny at the heart of their live shows.
The full stage show features an energetic batteria of dhols up front, bass, drums, guitar, dholak and can include bhangra dancers and guest singers. Musical influences are drawn from a rich pallet of global sounds and cultures.
For tickets, ring (01274) 432000.
