Two cats were rescued by firefighters from a “serious” flat fire in Undercliffe last night.
Fire officers from Bradford and Idle stations spent three hours battling a blaze to a ground-floor flat in Heath Road at about 9pm.
No-one was in the property at the time of the incident. Residents from the flat above evacuated themselves and alerted the authorities.
When firefighters got to the flat they could see smoke coming out the front window and back door of the property.
Three fire engines were sent to the scene and six breathing apparatus were used.
Two cats were found in the flat and were given oxygen and brought back around.
Officers said quite a lot of “serious fire damage” had been caused to the flat and smoke had affected neighbouring properties.
Specialist fire investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
