An appeal to refurbish Bradford Cathedral’s organ is gaining momentum.
Since its launch at a recital two months ago, the appeal has raised £11,000 – but there is still a long way to go to reach the £250,000 target to refurbish the instrument in time for the Cathedral’s centenary celebrations in 2019.
According to the director of music Alex Woodrow, more than 100 CDs recorded by the Cathedral musicians for the appeal, have been bought and fundraisers have taken up the opportunity to adopt an organ pipe with more than 100 pipes purchased.
The latest fundraiser is the Film Friday event featuring the Cathedral’s assistant director of music Jonathan Eyre’s improvised accompaniment to a 1922 silent film adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist at 7pm on Friday, April 26.
