An animal charity is looking for urgent donations to buy hundreds of tins of dog food for six growing puppies.
The German shepherd puppies were recently taken in by Ilkley-based West Yorkshire Animals in Need after the owner of their mother found himself with an unexpected litter. He contacted the charity for help and it has been caring for the puppies and their mother ever since.
Mum is going back to the owner in a couple of weeks and the charity has offered to cover the cost of her neutering to avoid more unwanted puppies in future. The puppies are now five weeks old and eating puppy food, and the charity is in the process of finding them new homes.
But the charity, which has made urgent appeals for funds in recent months, is now looking for funding to help feed the six hungry mouths. It says it will need around 200 tins of food, as well as bags of puppy biscuits, to care for the puppies until they are re-homed.
