A major hotel chain has pledged £9,000 to support the work of Ilkley’s new community cafe venture Outside the Box.

The Hilton Community Foundation’s support means training and activities programmes to be run out of the new community hub can be launched later this year.

"We are delighted with this," said Louise Hale, one of the community volunteers with the project.

The Outside the Box training team have also met with local colleges, Yorkshire-based training bodies, and other agencies specialisinge in supporting the learning disabled community.

Outside the Box's own fund-raising events continue at the cafe’s first Community Day on April 20.

It will showcase the premises on Bridge Lane. Activities include allotment work, bread-making sessions, art workshops and a young people's pizza and music session.
