A lively meeting was staged as part of a £1 million regeneration programme for Keighley.
A group of about 35 residents went to Hainworth Wood Community Centre to discuss the Keighley Valley Project.
The scheme is one of six across Yorkshire and Humber to receive the Big Lottery Fund’s Big Local money. It covers a strip of neighbourhoods around the lower stretches of the River Worth from Stockbridge to Wesley Place.
The intention is that residents will take the lead in drawing up plans to improve their communities.
Commenting on Tuesday’s meeting, Big Local co-ordinator Sam Keighley, said: “Over the next few weeks, residents should get a leaflet about this project, telling them how they can get involved.
“A Big Local Facebook page will be set up, supported by the Youth Service.”
She added that volunteers would apply for an additional £20,000 from the project to be spent on things such as fun days, drop-in sessions, or even on employing a part-time community worker.
