Plans to partly demolish a car showroom and rebuild it to form a ground-floor car sales area with first-floor residential accommodation have been refused.
The scheme would have taken place at Ivanhoe Works, at 280 Canal Road, Bradford.
But Bradford Council refused the application amid fears of its “overshadowing” impact on a nearby house.
A Council planning officer’s report said: “The proposed development would overshadow and over-dominate habitable room windows and the rear garden area of 40 Midland Terrace, Canal Road, resulting in significant harm to residential amenity.”
Planners said the building would have a “poor relationship” with the existing scene, contrary to the Replacement Unitary Development Plan.
