A woman who moved from Portsmouth to Keighley to be near her son died from alcohol dependency.
Sandra Dixon, 64, of Station Road, died on Ward 15 at Airedale Hospital on January 17. She had ‘crashed’ on the ward the day after her GP asked for her to be admitted.
She had been bedridden, was neglecting herself and not eating, an inquest in Bradford heard yesterday.
Assistant deputy coroner Dr Dominic Bell said Mrs Dixon died shortly afterwards, despite efforts by medical staff to revive her.
A post-mortem examination showed she had alcoholic liver disease and other health issues.
Recording her death was due to alcohol dependency, Dr Bell said: “Her death reflects the longer-term consequences of alcohol abuse.”
