A Skipton mum, whose only flutter is on each year’s Grand National, successfully picked the top three finishers of this year’s race.
Estelle Walker, 38, bet £1 on five horses, including winner Auroras Encore and runners up Cappa Bleu and Teaforthree.
She didn’t exactly have a complicated system of picking the horses, she chose the eventual winner because he shares the same first name as one of her five-year-old daughter Poppy’s favourite Disney princesses. The horse’s odds were 66-1.
Her lucky choices bagged Mrs Walker £90, and because her mum Ann Moorhouse copied her picks she came up a winner too.
Mrs Walker said: “I just picked five random horses, really. I watched the race with a few people and it was exciting to see them come in the top three.
“My daughter is a bit of a lucky charm.”
