A 24-year-old man who crashed his car while racing on Bradford’s Shipley-Airedale ring road has been ordered to do 140 hours of unpaid work.
Yusuf Patrawala lost control of a Honda Civic while speeding at 65mph, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Witnesses said he was racing another Honda Civic when he hit railings at 8.45pm on June 30 last year.
Patrawala, of Cocking Lane, Clayton, Bradford, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was banned from the road for 15 months and ordered to pay £1,200 costs.
His barrister, Emma Downing, said he was of previous good character. He was remorseful and his family would ensure there was no repetition of the offence.
Judge Peter Benson told Patrawala he behaved irresponsibly. He and his passengers could have been seriously injured or killed.
