Alpacas, Victorian-themed tram rides and the workings of the historic Wurlitzer organ are some of the attractions this weekend in Saltaire, when the village celebrates the International Day for Monuments and Sites with its annual World Heritage Weekend. Activities on the Leeds Liverpool Canal include how to harness a horse to tow a barge. On Sunday, there will be talks, videos and exhibitions. Saltaire Shops Trail on Saturday from 1pm offers the chance to follow the clues and find out more about the village. Shipley Glen Tramway will be manned by attendants in Victorian dress on both days and there’s a Canal Boat exhibition and children's activities at Saltaire Village when you can visit the former working canal boat Kennet and see and exhibitions on bygone times.
A children’s funfair, live music and a three-day market will bring light and colour to Keighley town centre from Thursday to Saturday. There will be a market on Low Street and Bow Street, along with entertainment on Church Green on Saturday. Other attractions include a climbing wall, Punch and Judy show and vintage buses.
Have fun using your whole body to control characters in computer games on the Big Screen in City Park, from next Friday until Sunday, April 21, between noon and 1pm. These simple free-to-play games are designed to work with the motion sensor cameras that sit behind the Big Screen. Take on the role of a secret agent in the spy game, defeat Robotzilla in the Monster movie game or swing through the jungle on vines in the Tarzan game!
Scratch the surface to find a new world of plants and minibeasts at Bronte Parsonage Museum next Wednesday, from 11am to 4pm. Borrow the special bags with all manner of things to help you discover more about life and death in Haworth churchyard.
