A total of 186,830 taxpayers in Bradford are better off now that the new tax year has started, according to Nick Clegg (right).
The deputy prime minister said the new tax year meant a major income tax cut for ordinary working people.
Mr Clegg said: “In Bradford, around 186,830 basic rate taxpayers will reap the benefits. People on the lowest incomes will pay no income tax at all.
“We’ve done it by raising the personal allowance. The first £9,440 you earn is now income tax free – nearly £3,000 higher than when we came into government.
