High Society is in town this week and cast members have met up with the team behind an amateur production of the show.
Members of Batley Amateur Thespian Society went to see the lively musical at the Alhambra and met its star, Michael Praed.
The show, which fizzes with Cole Porter numbers, started life as a 1956 film starring Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. It follows socialite Tracy Lord as she is planning a summer wedding, only to be thrown into disarray when her former husband turns up. A further twist arrives in the form of charming reporter Mike Connor who falls for Tracy.
As the wedding draws closer, the audience is left guessing which groom the bride will choose.
The show ends at the Alhambra tomorrow, but Batley Thespians’ production runs from May 15 to 18 at Batley Town Hall. For tickets, ring 07792 634360.
