Glass collections in areas including Cleckheaton, Birstall and Liversedge will stop at the end of March.
Kirklees Council is stopping kerbside collections and people will have to take empty bottles and jars to banks at supermarkets or to Birstall recycling centre.
The Council says glass should not be put in green wheeled bins and that people should use one of its bottle banks instead, which it says are within one kilometre of 90 per cent of Kirklees residents.
It has placed more bottle bins in the district to encourage people to continue recycling.
Local bottle bank sites include Smithies Lane car park, Birstall; Birkenshaw Community Hall; Spen Baths and Athletics Ground, Liversedge, and Scholes Cricket Club, Cleckheaton.
Residents can keep their glass collection bins.
