Police have appealed for witnesses as they continue to investigate claims a foul-mouthed horserider hit two ramblers with her riding crop at a popular country park.

Officers were called to Oakwell Hall Country Park in Birstall shortly after 1pm on January 13.

A police spokesman said the two victims, a couple in their 60s, were on an afternoon stroll when one of them told a passing female horserider off for using foul language.

Police are investigating claims the horserider then hit the male walker on his face with her riding crop and then the female walker twice with the whip before bystanders intervened.
