This afternoon, the shocked community paid tribute to the boy.
Neighbours said he was an identical twin who lived with his mother and her partner.
Police have not released the identity of the boy.
The family, including other children, had lived at the house in Harewood Road for about 18 months, according to neighbours.
One neighbour said:”I can’t believe it. No one can. He’s such a cheerful little boy.
"Him and his twin are usually up and down the street on their scooters, really friendly little boys.”
Another woman who lives just doors away from where it happened said: “I’ve just found out. My heart is broken. I can’t imagine what his family are going through. I haven’t a clue what’s gone on in that house.”

Police have been seen searching in bins and on garage roofs in the hunt for further evidence.
Forensics officers, in white suits, are also on the scene.

Bosses on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway said they were giving their full assistance to murder squad detectives investigating the death.
Ingrow Tunnel, on the five-mile line, was cordoned off as part of the police inquiries.
Kieran Pilsworth, head of marketing for the railway, said: “Services began as normal this morning but at about 11am the police asked us to close the tunnel.
“We have continued to run a service between Oxenhope and Damems on the top section of the line.”
Keighley town mayor Coun George Metcalf - who lives in Valley Close, not far from the scene in Harewood Road - said: “It’s tragic for a child so young to die and I’m devastated for the mother and other family members. To think what they must be going through.”
