An overgrown footpath which has caused controversy will remain as it is – for the time being.
People living near the path, in Idle, were told last summer that Bradford Council planned to clear it after a complaint. But residents would rather it stay as it is because they think it deters anti-social behaviour.
They sent the Council a petition asking that work be stopped and the path closed.
The issue was discussed by the Bradford East Area Committee. Councillor Jeanette Sunderland said members voted to keep the path overgrown because anything else would upset local people.
However, the Council legally has to maintain public rights of way and ensure they are open.
Officers say there are insufficient grounds to close the path and, to avoid an official complaint, are looking at what other legal options are available.
